About Asa Brigham
Asa Brigham served as alcalde of the Brazoria municipality in 1835 before signing the Texas Declaration of Independence in 1836. He then served the Republic of Texas as auditor and as treasurer from 1836 to 1844. Born in Massachusetts in 1790, Brigham died in Washington, Texas, in 1844, having held key financial offices during the Republic's founding years.
