About Arch of Constantine, Rome
The Arch of Constantine was erected by the Roman Senate in 315 CE near the Colosseum to commemorate Constantine's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 CE. Its builders incorporated reused reliefs and sculptures taken from earlier monuments honoring Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius. As Rome's largest triumphal arch, it celebrated imperial power and continuity.
