About Applewhite House

The Applewhite House was built in 1852 by Isaac Applewhite, a minister, lawyer, and teacher who built it by hand from native cedar as a carpentry hobby. Its design followed typical Victorian architectural forms of the period. Applewhite also operated a steam sawmill and grist mill in partnership with F. J. Cooke, contributing to the local Chappell Hill economy.
