About Apache Last Stand
The site marks a skirmish fought here on June 12, 1880, in Presidio County. Four Pueblo scouts serving under General Benjamin H. Grierson of the United States Army defeated a band of twenty Apache warriors. The clash was later remembered as the last stand of Apache resistance in this part of West Texas.
