HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Announa (Thibilis) Roman Ruins.

The site preserves scattered Roman ruins of the ancient town of Thibilis, including remains of a forum, a temple, sections of fortification walls, and traces of baths, most reduced to foundations and low walls. It falls under the authority of Algeria's Ministry of Culture as a protected archaeological site. The ruins lie in open ground and are freely accessible, though largely unstaffed.

About Announa (Thibilis) Roman Ruins

Thibilis grew from a Numidian settlement into a Roman municipium in the first century BCE, serving as a market and administrative center for the surrounding region of eastern Numidia. It flourished under Roman rule with a forum, temples, and baths supporting local trade and civic life. The town declined in late antiquity as Roman authority weakened.
