HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Anfushi Necropolis.
What survives are rock-cut tomb chambers and burial shafts carved into the limestone hillside, with much of the original decoration and grave goods lost or removed to museum collections. The necropolis is under the authority of Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities as a protected archaeological site. It is open to visitors on a ticketed basis with limited public access to the tomb interiors.

The Anfushi Necropolis comprises rock-cut tombs built during the Ptolemaic period, roughly the third to first centuries BCE, for prominent residents of Alexandria. Its chambers blend Greek architectural forms with Egyptian funerary decoration, reflecting the mixed Hellenistic-Egyptian culture of the city. The tombs illustrate the cultural fusion that characterized Ptolemaic Alexandria.
