About Alcazaba of Almería
The Alcazaba of Almería was built in 955 under Caliph Abd al-Rahman III of Córdoba as a fortress protecting the Mediterranean port. It grew into one of the largest Islamic fortifications in al-Andalus, later serving Almería's Taifa rulers as a seat of power. It fell to the Catholic Monarchs in 1489, marking the city's incorporation into Christian Spain.
