About Agbodrafo (Togoville)
Agbodrafo, on the shore of Lake Togo, grew as a coastal trading settlement and later held a merchant's house used to detain captives during the Atlantic slave trade. Nearby Togoville was a center of traditional Ewe religious life and, in 1884, the site of a treaty establishing German colonial rule. Together they marked the region's shift to colonial control.
