HISTORIC PRESERVATION at A'ali Burial Mounds.

The site preserves a large field of ancient burial mounds of varying size, including several substantial royal scale tumuli, though many smaller mounds in the surrounding area have been lost to modern development. It forms part of the Dilmun Burial Mounds World Heritage Site and is managed by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. The mounds stand in open ground and are freely accessible to visitors.

About A'ali Burial Mounds

The A'ali burial mounds were built by the Dilmun civilization in the early second millennium BCE as part of one of the largest ancient necropolises in the world. The largest mounds are traditionally associated with Dilmun's rulers, though individual attributions remain uncertain. They reflected Dilmun's wealth as a trading power linking Mesopotamia with the Indus Valley.
