Zübeyde Hanım was the mother of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Makbule Atadan. She married Ali Rıza Efendi in about 1870 or 1871; four of their six children died young.

Zübeyde Hanım moved to the Uşakizade family mansion in Karşıyaka, İzmir, in late 1922 on medical advice. Her illness worsened, and she died there on January 14, 1923. She was buried in Karşıyaka; her son Mustafa Kemal visited the grave on January 27 after returning from a tour of western Anatolia.
