William Fitzhugh Jr. represented Stafford County in Virginia’s House of Burgesses in 1700–02 and 1705–06. The eldest son of William Fitzhugh the immigrant and Sarah Tucker, he married Ann Lee and inherited a large share of Ravensworth and Eagles Nest. He also held county offices, including clerk and sheriff. His death is recorded in family histories as 1713–14; his exact birth remains uncertain, despite the reported 1679 date. His father was also a burgess.
EARLY LIFE
William Fitzhugh was the son of Colonel William Fitzhugh of Stafford County and a grandson of Henry Fitzhugh of Bedfordshire, England. He inherited extensive landholdings from his father and lived at Eagle’s Nest. He married Anne, daughter of Richard Lee of Westmoreland County.
William Fitzhugh represented Stafford in the Virginia House of Burgesses in assemblies between 1700 and 1706. His recorded committee work included Elections and Privileges.
