Margarethe Lindemann Luder was Martin Luther’s mother. She came from an Eisenach family and moved with Hans Luder to the mining region of Mansfeld.

In a letter of May 20, 1531, Martin Luther offered comfort to his seriously ill, recently widowed mother. Margarethe died about six weeks later, on June 30. The illness itself is not specified in the surviving letter.
