DEATH
Hugh the Great died at Dourdan in June 956 and was buried at the Basilica of Saint-Denis. Contemporary and later annals disagree on whether his death fell on June 16 or 17. His son Hugh Capet inherited his position, with Hedwige and her brother Bruno helping govern during the son's youth.
