CAREER
DEATH
Friedrich Leibniz died in Leipzig in September 1652, leaving his six-year-old son Gottfried Wilhelm and younger daughter Anna Catharina in their mother's care. A Cambridge University Press biography gives September 15; a German genealogical account gives September 5. Leipzig still used the Julian calendar, which may account for the ten-day difference. The consulted sources do not establish a cause of death.
