Francesca di Neri del Sera was Michelangelo’s mother and the wife of Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. A study by Casa Buonarroti identifies her five sons and dates her death to December 6, 1481.

Her Del Sera family was part of the Florentine network into which the Buonarroti family married.
CAREER
DEATH
She died in December 1481, ten months after the birth of her youngest son, Gismondo, leaving Michelangelo aged six. She was buried in the Buonarroti family tomb at Santa Croce.
