Abdullah ibn Muhammad appears as Ibn Battuta’s father in the traveler’s Arabic patronymic, Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad. Little independent information about Abdullah’s life is established; the family belonged to a scholarly milieu in Tangier.
